The Selfling Teen Support Foundation is very supportive of the artistic endeavours that people engage in to either heal themselves or to help heal others.
Hand made by Alberta artist Lanaea Fleet of Down to Earth Creations, our Selfling Teen Support Strength bracelet is a testament to the resiliency of young people and the power of support in the community.
The Selfling Strength Bracelet is yours as a thank you for supporting us and being willing to show that support to your friends, your family, and your community.
Around the beginning of our journey, we were told of the loss of a bright young person in Alberta who was actually somewhat connected to our founder, James Higgins. Ruby Odell was a fun, caring, dynamic, and outgoing young woman who had real gifts. Sadly, Ruby was stricken with depression and anxiety and, on an afternoon in September 2016, Ruby passed away as a result of suicide. It was from this day that we had these bracelets made with one red bead in memory of Ruby and all the young people we lost as a result of suicide. We call our bracelet a “strength” bracelet because it takes strength to seek help. It often takes just as much strength to lean in and help someone as well.
Get Some, Give Some!
If you are feeling extra generous, for an extra $10, we will set a second bracelet aside for a young person in the community. This is important to Selfling because it allows us to keep a stock of extra bracelets to give to young people to let them know their community cares. As we know, teens aren’t always carrying money around.
So if you choose to add a bracelet to our bracelet pool, thanks so much in advance! From all of us at the Selfling Teen Support Foundation and on behalf of the teens who will score your awesome gift!
UPDATE: We have made a little design change to the bracelet to cover costs as well as maintain quality. Note the pictures, the two variants are so similar, we’re just going to sell them both on the same page.
